The bold text below is clickable and will take you to pages that demonstrate
each stated theme. Although the visual aspect of the pages are html
rendered from ASP.net projects there is the all important "Code Behind" that is
associated with each form. Anytime we ask users for information we expect
it to be accurate and useable. For a variety of reasons this isn't always
the case. If they are like me, then their typing and spelling is
suspect. Some people resent being asked to join a mailing
list or comment on some aspect of your site and will do their best to send
an annoying message. Others miss filling in a field with information that
is necessary and need to be reminded. To reduce the chances of these kind
of things from happening we run validation routines against their input
and try to weed out errors, bad info or empty fields.
Once the info is validated as completely as possible we need to do
something with it. An email might be sent, a database might be updated or
a Credit Card number might get approved or disapproved.

You might ask a potential client to send you an email outlining their
particular needs. For instance- If you were a realtor who rented summer
properties for clients you might ask a person to give you a rough idea of what
they are looking to rent for their vacation. If they came to your site
and only got your phone number they might wind up calling your competition
after they lost that scrap of paper they wrote your number on. This page
allows you to call them and to prepare for the call ahead of time.

For a variety of reasons people interested in your services or products might
want to be kept informed of sales promotions, organizational or corporate news,
etc. To make this happen you'll need to give your clients a chance to
join your mailing list. A web form of the kind displayed here helps make
that happen. In addition to the form, you'll need a database to capture
their input and a secure place to keep the file. Some companies use
this as an opportunity to give a client something for free. |
